Liberty Utilities - SLT Area
Liberty is taking proactive steps to prepare for the upcoming wildfire season. To mitigate the risk of wildfires, Liberty is implementing Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) to temporarily turn off power when there is an increased fire risk due to weather conditions.
What is a PSPS?
- A PSPS is a safety procedure used by electric utilities to temporarily turn off power when and where weather conditions present an increased wildfire risk.
- The state of California grants authority to Liberty to implement a PSPS in high-risk areas when extreme conditions present a clear danger to public safety.
- If a PSPS is implemented, it could last at least 24 hours before power is safely restored.
Liberty has developed a toolkit to help educate customers on how to prepare for a PSPS. You can find this information on Liberty's Public Safety Power Shutoffs.
