What’s New in Performance Reporting

A–F Accountability

This week Performance Reporting staff met with the Accountability Technical and Policy Advisory Committees to discuss various topics related to the 2022 and 2023 accountability rating systems. To learn more about who attended and what was discussed, visit the 2022 development webpage.

If you would like to learn about specific comments, concerns, or questions that arose during the meetings, be sure to check out the meeting summaries which will be posted in the coming weeks.

Local Accountability System

The Local Accountability Guide and Frequently Asked Questions provide information about plan requirements and example components. Both documents can be found on the local accountability webpage.

Districts wishing to learn more about the local accountability system and how to develop a district local accountability plan can participate in a 45-minute overview webinar with time for Q & A.

Registration links are available for upcoming webinar dates in August. The timeline for districts wishing to develop a local accountability plan is posted on our webpage and the Notice of Interest form will be available in September.

Assessment Scoring and Reporting

Log In, Learn More District Resources

In May, TEA created the Log In, Learn More District Toolkit. The toolkit includes materials on how families can access and use STAAR results to help their students recover any lost ground in learning. This week, TEA added additional resources to help districts engage families with their child’s STAAR results as they begin to think about the new school year.

Univision Log In, Learn More Video (Spanish): This new video, developed specifically for Spanish speaking parents, is currently airing on Univision. It explains why STAAR results are important and how parents can access their child’s results. It be used as a social media asset or posted on websites.

Log In, Learn More Web Banners (English and Spanish): Includes three fully accessible website banners encouraging parents to log in to view their child’s STAAR results.

We encourage districts to download and utilize these resources.

Assessment Management System Timelines

As a part of the contract transition, ETS will be providing all necessary State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®), STAAR Alternate 2, Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS), and TELPAS Alternate score data to CAI. Any districts that would like to retain copies of their individual district results for STAAR should download those results from the Reports > Results in the Assessment Management System prior to August 31, 2021.

District correction requests, score code and language changes, rescores, resolutions, and any scoring investigations for STAAR must be submitted to the ETS Support Center by July 31, 2021, to be updated and reflected in the ETS Assessment Management System and the Family Portal prior to the change in vendors. District correction requests include changes to student identification information, Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS) ID, and County-District-Campus codes.

On-Demand Data Files

On-demand data files for online testers and paper testers for the June 2021 administration are now available in the Assessment Management System for Algebra I, Biology, U.S. History, and English I and English II.

For questions or help with accessing and interpreting STAAR results, districts and parents can email assessment.reporting@tea.texas.gov or call (512) 463-9704.

This Week’s FAQ

The 2021 optional alternative evaluation requires a 95 percent participation rate for eligibility. Will this rate only include reading and mathematics assessments?

No. The participation rate used to determine eligibility for the 2021 alternative evaluation will include all subject areas.

Prior to 2021, participation rates were only calculated for reading and mathematics and displayed on the Closing the Gaps domain data table. This year, we will also include participation rates for each subject area on the STAAR Performance data tables (Student Achievement domain).
