On September 8, we’ll begin with an overview of Data-Driven Safety Analysis, provide a look back at advancements made by states and local agencies and then provide a look forward to where data analysis will take us next.

During our featured session, we’ll hear from three agencies that are incorporating equity data into their data-driven safety analysis. We’ll hear from:

  • Massachusetts DOT who is implementing crash and risk-based approaches to analyze the emphasis areas contained in their Strategic Highway Safety Plan
  • Minnesota DOT, who will be presenting on their Suitability of Pedestrian and Cyclist Environment (SPACE) tool
  • Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission about how equity is incorporated into their project decisions

In addition to presentations, we’ll also be hosting breakout sessions – an hour long opportunity to ask questions and share information with peers. The Breakout topics include:

  • Network Screening – Implementing Predictive and Systemic Approaches
  • Data Access, Analysis Tools, and Assistance for Local Agencies
  • Crash Modification Factors – Methods and Tools to Help Select the Most Appropriate CMFs
  • Conducting Project-Level Safety Analysis – Quantitative, Qualitative, and the In-Between

Finally, we’ll wrap up by sharing information on resources, funding, and technical assistance opportunities.

For more information, please reach out to Hillary Isebrands, John McFadden, or Jerry Roche.

We look forward to seeing you all then!
