Supervisor Novasel

El Dorado County

District V Supervisor, Sue Novasel Special Update

It is now 18 days since the Caldor Fire started and, unfortunately, we still have a long way to go. Our hearts go out to all those affected by this devastation. As we all work together as a community, please remember to be patient with each other and most importantly, make sure you take care of yourselves and your families.

Similar to the Angora Fire, there are people out there who would like to help. We will get information out to you as things get set up and become available. For now, see the information below from El Dorado Community Foundation.

If you do need assistance, please contact the CalFIRE Information Line at (530) 303-2455 or my office at (530) 621-6577.

Please stay safe!

~Sue

Evacuation Orders Downgraded

Effective Immediately

El Dorado County

The following Evacuation Orders in the areas of North Camino and Pollock Pines
described below have been downgraded to an Evacuation Warning:

North of Highway 50, West of Sly Park, South of Slab Creek, and East of Larsen Drive / Snows Road.

NOTES:
El Dorado Irrigation District officials request that evacuated residents with water service provided by EID consider running internal taps for a couple minutes upon returning to ensure fresh water in their homes. Water that has remained in service lines during evacuation periods can result in customers detecting taste and odor issues that may be easily addressed by flushing the taps. EID’s water is safe to drink. The main distribution system piping was not affected by fire and the integrity of the overall system has not been affected, as confirmed by its ongoing and rigorous water quality testing program.

Tahoe Area Caldor Fire Relief Fund Application

The Caldor Fire Relief Fund (TAHOE AREA) was set up on August 29, 2021 in response to the Caldor wildfire that caused evacuation orders in the Tahoe Basin as it moved west.  This fund was created to help with immediate relief needs for EDC community members who live in the Tahoe area directly impacted by the fire. Please apply to this fund ONLY if you are in dire need of assistance!  We have thousands of households who have had to evacuate...please think of your neighbor.

PLEASE BE AWARE, DEPENDING ON EVACUATION ORDERS & AVAILABILITY OF FUNDING, PRIORITY FOR FUNDING WILL CHANGE.

This application is meant to be simple.  Please answer all questions carefully and accurately.  Here are a couple tutorials if you need help with an application: https://youtu.be/a7_CBLMaaL0 and https://youtu.be/LKM5VrLIoAs
Please watch this first before you email us!

We will be distributing emergency funding of $300 for emergency relief (food, medication, pet food, other basic NON-PERMANENT HOUSING needs- temporary housing like hotel costs are part of this section).  Funding is totally determined by the number of donations that come in!

PLEASE BE PATIENT...we are working around the clock.

REQUIREMENTS:

- Physical address is in the mandatory evacuation area of the Caldor Fire (between Kyburz and Tahoe Basin).

- Your home that is in the evacuation area must be a primary residence.

- Requests must be directly related to the fire or the evacuation from fire.

Only one request per residence will be considered. PLEASE CHECK WITH YOUR FAMILY, ROOMMATES, TENANTS/OWNERS BEFORE applying...it just takes us longer to process when we are finding double applications!!!

-There will be no second requests considered at this time either.  We are trying to help as many folks as possible.  Please do NOT take up two of the requests (or our time in doing so).

-Please do NOT apply for business help.  This fund is for residences only.
