Last year nearly 20% of recycling collected in the borough was either the wrong item or unsuitable for recycling because it had been contaminated by food or something else.
This week is #RecycleWeek and we'd like you to make sure you play your part and help us to reduce the amount of contaminated recycling in East Hants. Please make sure you recycle the correct and clean items in your bin.
Did you know that the UK saves 18 million tonnes of CO2 a year by recycling?

Work is set to begin on Havant Thicket Reservoir this September, subject to Portsmouth Water receiving final permission to start the project.
Following many years of planning and research, Portsmouth Water is ready to start preparatory work on site as soon as final permission has been granted. This is expected to happen in September, with work commencing straight away.
The first stage of work is planned to take place in the autumn in order to avoid the bird nesting season, allowing contractors to carry out the required tasks in as environmentally a sensitive way as possible.
Beach replenishment work, being carried out by Coastal Partners on behalf of the council, is now underway along Hayling beachfront.
The small-scale beach recycling work is expected to last for three weeks and will help to restore beach levels and increase the standard of protection to homes against flooding.
The work will take place along the southern frontage of Hayling Island, with material extracted from the beach between the Coastguard Hut and Gunner Point and deposited along the residential frontage at Eastoke.
The beach will remain open for the duration of the works, but we ask that you remain vigilant to the large machinery operating in the area.
