City to Construct Oakton Street Water Supply Connection

The City of Evanston will begin construction of approximately 2,500 feet of new 24-inch water transmission main and a below-grade flow meter vault as part of a new water supply to the Village of Lincolnwood. Construction will extend along Hartrey Avenue between Cleveland Street and Oakton Street and along Oakton Street between Hartrey Avenue and the North Shore Channel.

Construction is anticipated to begin on October 15, 2019. The exact date that construction activities will begin will be noted on "NO PARKING" signs posted a minimum of 48 hours in advance of the work. Construction of the water main and meter vault will be complete by March 2020. Temporary concrete road restoration will be in place as soon as construction is complete, and final restoration of the site will be completed in the spring of 2020.

Traffic Control
Hartrey Avenue from Cleveland Street to Oakton Street: Traffic will be one-way headed north and parking will be prohibited.

Oakton Street from Hartrey Avenue to the North Shore Channel: Traffic will be restricted in most areas to one lane in each direction due to construction work on the north side of Oakton Street. There will be a temporary change in signal patterns at the intersection directly east of the gas station at 2494 Oakton Street. Driveway access to businesses will be maintained throughout the project.
