Gov. Evers Applauds Renewable Energy Project Approved by Building Commission |
MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers today applauded the State of Wisconsin Building Commission's approval of a project to allow We Energies to construct a solar array at UW-Parkside at no cost to the state. This is the first renewable energy project approved by the Building Commission since he issued Executive Order 38 that created the Office of Sustainability and Clean Energy and established a goal of ensuring all electricity consumed within the state of Wisconsin is 100% carbon-free by 2050. "I set the goal for Wisconsin to be 100% carbon-free by 2050 because the climate crisis is real and immediate," Gov. Evers said. "I am pleased to see approval of this renewable energy project at UW-Parkside because it is through partnerships like this that we are going to reach our goal and build a sustainable future in Wisconsin for generations to come." In total, the Commission approved approximately $131 million in key projects across the state. Highlights include:
