November | Home Living
Welcome to our first Age Well e-newsletter.
Over the next few months we will be bringing you useful information, advice and top tips to help you age well in West Sussex.
This month we are focusing on how you can make sure you stay safe and well at home. From technology and equipment that could assist you, to checklists and visits to make sure your home is safe and warm this winter. We’ve also included some other useful links and local events you may be interested in that are taking place across our local libraries.

Assistive Technology
To help you remain independent in your home why not consider using assistive technology (also referred to as telecare). It can offer peace of mind to you, your family and friends, and gives support whenever you need it.
The technology can be used in a variety of ways - for example, to send medication reminders or to alert someone should you ever need assistance, perhaps after a fall. Some of the technology is also available to hire for a short time to ensure that the equipment works for you.
There are a range of organisations that offer assistive technology services. Visit our Connect 2 Support website to find more information.

Safe and Well Visits
A Safe and Well Visit is a free service carried out by West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service for individuals and groups within our communities who are most in need.
The service will visit your home to offer advice on how to make it safer and, where appropriate, fit smoke alarms or other specialist fire detection equipment. This usually takes between 30-45 minutes.
If you or someone you know may benefit from one of these visits, call the team on 0345 8729 719 or email.
