California voters passed MHSA (Proposition 63) in November 2004; the law was enacted January 1, 2005. MHSA places a 1% tax on personal incomes over $1,000,000. Counties receive funds through the State with the goal of transforming the public mental health system into one that is consumer friendly, recovery oriented, accessible, and culturally competent. Pioneer Trail/Hwy 50 Intersection Safety Improvement Project
In accordance with CEQA Guidelines Section 15073, the Pioneer Trail/US 50 Safety Improvement Project (also known as the roundabout) Draft Initial Study/ Mitigated Negative Declaration / Initial Environmental Checklist (IS/MND/IEC) was circulated for review for 30 days beginning on August 2, 2021 and ending on September 2, 2021. In response to the publication of the Draft IS/IEC/MND for public review, comments were received by the County of El Dorado (Lead Agency) via email from members of the public and Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA). Although CEQA does not require written responses to comments on an IS/MND/IEC, this document presents the comments received during the public circulation period and provides responses from the Lead Agency that are incorporated into the IS/MND/IEC. No new significant environmental impacts were identified during this process.
The responses to comments to the Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration can be found by clicking here.
The Board of Supervisors is anticipated to adopt the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) with Proposed Mitigated Negative Declaration and approve the Project as described in the CEQA document during the January 4, 2022, Board of Supervisors' meeting at approximately 10 AM.
Lake Tahoe Fun Facts
An avalanche can reach speeds of 80mph in the first five seconds. Humans trigger 90 percent of avalanche disasters with as many as 40 deaths in North America each year. With new snow falling in Tahoe, now is a good time to learn to stay safe when recreating in the backcountry by learning more about avalanches and the conditions that cause them by tuning in to the second annual Tahoe Backcountry Safety Awareness Week starting this Monday. Always be sure to check the avalanche forecast through the Sierra Avalanche Center before going out.
