January 13th Web Meeting (Rescheduled from Dec 15th):
FEMA Flood Mapping with 2D Modeling
Hydraulic modelers,
Tomorrow's web meeting is scheduled for two hours, from noon to 2:00 pm Eastern Time, Scott Hogan will present the latest information available on FEMA floodplain and floodway mapping with 2D hydraulic modeling. The presentation will include an overview and discussion of the following:
- Floodway mapping with 1D vs. 2D model results
- Limitations of 1D floodway analyses
- Current FEMA’s guidance and standards for 2D modeling
- Evaluating surcharges using 2D modeling results
- Evaluating a no-rise scenario with 2D modeling
- Developing 2D informed 1D models when necessary
- Overview of SMS/SRH-2D flood modeling tools
Registration is not required for this web meeting.

Schedule NHI Training Sessions
|
|
|
The NHI 2D hydraulic modeling training course is available both in person (NHI 135095) and online (NHI 135095V). Courses get scheduled based on host requests and often have public seats available, but they go quick. You may consider hosting a course if the availability doesn't meet your needs. Please feel free to contact Scott Hogan with questions.

Download Free Software
|
|
Download a FREE copy of the SMS Graphical User Interface and SRH-2D.
Once the software is installed, go to the Menu-Help-Register. Select 'Request a license', which takes you to the Aquaveo page. The 'Request Community' option is free and does not require a license code. All DOTs and FHWA employees should select the Govt' License option.
Reviewers License: Anyone who reviews models rather than develop them, can request a free ‘pro’ version of SMS from Aquaveo. Before requesting a license, reviewers must complete the form at the following link and submit it to Aquaveo. www.aquaveo.com/regulatory-review
