The Florida Department of Environmental Protection's South District invites you to learn about the use of innovative yet simple technologies such as the baffle box.

AGENDA

Innovative Stormwater Treatment Through Use of New Baffle Box Technology

Bay Park is a 53-acre publicly owned waterfront tract of land with multiple cultural facilities and 35 acres of impervious surface. As a part of the transformation to a public park, stormwater runoff from the impervious surface will be treated prior to its discharge into Sarasota Bay using a new baffle box design. The baffle box will remove silt and pollutants from on-site and off-site runoff as it flows through underground stormwater pipes, helping ensure that water passing through Bay Park is adequately treated in order to protect Sarasota Bay water quality.

Presenters:

  • Bill Waddill, AICP, PLA - Chief Implementation Officer, Bay Park Conservancy Inc.
  • Trenton Strackbein, PE - Civil Engineer, Kimley-Horn.

About DEP Linkups

DEP Linkups are meaningful platforms for connectivity. They encourage information sharing among stakeholders, regulated communities, local businesses and government agencies. Our meetings support the department’s mission to protect Florida’s natural resources together.

By providing this regular program, DEP offers attendees the opportunity to learn, network and share information with guest speakers who provide channels for expert discussion with our regulated and non-regulated community.
