KITSAP COUNTY, WA — A new COVID-19 testing site opens Wednesday, March 16 in South Kitsap.
The walk-up testing kiosk at 7070 Bethel Burley Road SE (Grace Bible Church parking lot) will offer molecular (RT-PCR) testing at no cost, with results available in one to two days. Registration is available online and at the site.
Kitsap Public Health District partnered with the state Department of Health and testing provider Curative to launch the new site, which will help meet an ongoing need for testing in the south end of the county. The small-footprint operation will provide a potential model for offering ongoing access to COVID-19 testing in the community. Additional kiosks could be added based on demand for testing.
DRIVE THROUGH TESTING SITES PLACED ON STANDBY
Kitsap Public Health and the Kitsap County Emergency Operations Center have placed drive-through COVID-19 testing operations on standby due to declining demand. Seven people were tested during the final day of drive-through testing March 11 at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds. The sites could be reactivated in the future if demand for testing increases significantly.
Kitsap Public Health and the Emergency Operations Center launched the drive-through program in October of 2020. The sites have administered more than 23,000 tests and identified more than 3,400 positive cases.
"We are grateful to our staff and volunteers who provided this vital service through sweltering summer heat and icy winter weather," Health District Administrator Keith Grellner said. "Their dedicated efforts ensured Kitsap residents had access to testing when they needed it most."
Testing remains available at many sites in the county. At-home tests can be purchased at pharmacies and retailers, or ordered at no cost from the government. For information, go to kcowa.us/gettested
