Cutting Edge Grant Benefits Upton Students

Greetings from Weston County School District #7.  We are excited in Computer Science and Health Science to announce after applying for Cutting Edge grants from the Wyoming Department of Education (WDE) for Z-Space VR equipment, we have been awarded two grants.

ZSpace is the leading evidence-based augmented/virtual reality (AR/VR) platform providing innovative hands-on, experiential learning to improve achievement in science, math, and career and technical education credentialing.

As new equipment is slowly arriving, we are doing our training, and students will be using state of the art equipment.  Karla Ludemann is getting professional training in the computer science area. Mary Rankin’s training is in the health science area. ZSpace delivers the ultimate learning experience to inspire curiosity and accelerate understanding. Their service team and consultants provide knowledge and expertise to address instructional strategies and classroom routines that prepare educators to engage students, demonstrate critical thinking, and support learning. ZSpace Professional Development is hands-on, encouraging educators to step into the role of the learner and see the familiar in a new reality.

We feel that not only will our programs benefit, but also other areas of study will benefit, such as anatomy, physiology, biology, robotics.  Students will be able to utilize and experience technology that is so important in today’s working world.  We feel fortunate at Weston County School District #7 to have received the grants.  Even though we are a small school district, we strive to provide our students with the best possible learning environments available.  We will update our progress with our programs as we begin to work and train on this new and innovative equipment.

Sincerely,

Karla Ludeman

Mary Rankin

Those who attended were able to tour the campus, visit with faculty, enjoy lunch at the Washakie Center, visit with clubs, shop at the bookstore, and even attend university events to explore opportunities that students find on campus.
