What is Metrc?

Metrc is the provider for Oklahoma's statewide seed-to-sale inventory tracking system. OMMA licensees must use Metrc to track all medical marijuana and medical marijuana products grown, processed, transported, tested, sold or disposed of within the state.

All licensed businesses must be Metrc-compliant by the May 26 deadline.

Register for Metrc Seminars

OMMA and Metrc have scheduled optional online and in-person seminars May 3-6 for growers, dispensaries, processors and waste facilities.

You must be credentialed in Metrc to register for the optional seminars. Read our guide to getting started in Metrc to learn about that process.

Once you're credentialed, use the links to register to attend one of the seminars online or in person. You'll learn what you need to know to be Metrc-compliant by the May 26 deadline, which includes the opportunity to ask Metrc questions.

Recordings of the seminars will be available sometime soon after they're over.

Each seminar has the same agenda as others for the same license type, so there's no requirement or expectation to attend or watch more than one.

Seminars for testing laboratories will be May 17-18. Stay tuned for more details soon.

Seminar Schedule

Registration is required.

The optional seminars will be held in the Oklahoma Commons Auditorium, 375 N Broadway Ave., Oklahoma City, OK 73102. It's next door to the Oklahoma State Department of Health Vital Records Will-Call.

No food or drink is allowed in the auditorium. Smoking and vaping medical marijuana or tobacco is prohibited in public places, including the auditorium and the area outside of it.

Testing Information

Starting May 27, all new inventory must have a COA uploaded directly into Metrc. That’s what it takes for new inventory to be fully Metrc-compliant from May 27 onward.

All existing inventory without COAs in Metrc has three pathways to Metrc compliance:

  • Growers, processors and dispensaries can ask the testing laboratory to upload existing COAs into Metrc by July 25. Growers, processors and dispensaries cannot upload the COA directly, but the lab can.
  • A licensee can add testing information to Metrc’s “Notes” section, then transfer or sell it to a dispensary by July 25. We have a printable flowchart for this process. The notes must include the testing laboratory name, the sample number and the tests passed. But if the product remains in the inventory of a grower or processor without a COA after July 25, it won’t be Metrc-compliant unless it’s re-tested and a new COA is uploaded into Metrc.
  • If for some reason the lab doesn’t upload the COA in Metrc, then the products must be re-tested, and the testing laboratory can upload the new COA into Metrc on or after July 25

Getting Started in Metrc

As you prepare to get started with the Metrc credentialing process, we wanted to draw your attention to two helpful guides.

The Next Steps guide provides instructions for signing up for training, getting credentialed with Metrc and more.

Once you're ready to set up your beginning inventory, the Beginning Inventory guide walks you through how to do it. All licensees must complete the process by the Metrc implementation deadline on May 26.

We have included these guides and more training information on our website's seed-to-sale page.

FAQs

How do I get started in Metrc and sign up for training?
The owner or key administrator of each commercial license is required to take Metrc's New Business class to become credentialed in Metrc. Licensees can use the Metrc scheduler to sign up for New Business training, offered each weekday. The class is also offered on demand through Metrc Learn in your Metrc account. When you complete the training, reach out to Metrc's Support team to get credentialed. Read more in our guide to getting started with Metrc.

What do I do if Metrc can't find my license?
If Metrc is unable to find your license, please send an email to OMMACompliance@ok.gov with the licensee’s name, the business name and the business license number. If you have previously contacted Metrc Support regarding this issue, please include your ticket number in the email to help expedite the process. We are working on a permanent solution to this problem, but in the meantime, we can help troubleshoot and potentially provide a manual fix. We encourage you to continue checking the seed-to-sale page on the OMMA website for information and updates on the Metrc implementation.

How can dispensaries, transporters and waste facilities account for and report untagged sales, transports and disposal between May 26 and Aug. 24?
Dispensaries can conduct untagged sales from May 27 through Aug. 24 using Metrc's external transfer function. The external transfer function can also be used to transfer or dispose of a dispensary's untagged products through Aug. 24. See the Beginning Inventory Guide for details. Untagged sales will need to be accounted for as described in the Monthly Reporting section above.
