Prince George's celebrates Women's History Month

Don't miss this year's premiere tribute to women, hosted by County Executive Baker. It's not too late to get your tickets for the 31st Annual Prince George’s County Women’s History Month Luncheon, featuring music by Chelsea Green and the Green Project, on Wednesday, March 16 at noon at Martin’s Crosswinds in Greenbelt, MD. This year's theme is “Working to Form A More Perfect Union.” Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D-Maryland) will receive a special tribute acknowledging her retirement from the U.S. Senate at the end of her current term in 2016. MGM National Harbor selects local artists as part of the site's permanent art collection

The work of Prince George's County resident, Margaret Boozer, will be part of the permanent art collection at MGM National Harbor.

When MGM National Harbor opens in the fourth quarter of 2016, visitors will discover a permanent collection of high-quality art seamlessly integrated into the resort's public spaces. Inspired by the rich heritage of the Capital Region, the MGM National Harbor Heritage Collection will showcase commissioned and procured works by visionary local and international sculptors, photographers and mixed-media artists, including Margaret Boozer, Alice Aycock, Sam Gilliam, John Dreyfuss, John Safer, Liao Yibai and Chul Hyun Ahn, among others. Prince George's begins 'Pothole Blitz'

The Prince George’s County Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPW&T) will focus their efforts on filling potholes caused by the cold weather and snow. The Countywide Pothole Blitz began on March 1, 2016. With a $3 million grant from the Carnegie Foundation, two County high schools for recent immigrants opened last fall. Immigrants make up one-third of the school system’s 128,000 students. New students are arriving all the time, many unaccompanied by adults. Join The Alice Ferguson Foundation for the Transforming Communities: Trash-Free Solutions for Healthy Lives, Clean Land, and Safe Water Summit on March 22, 2016 at the University of Maryland College Park’s Riggs Alumni Center.
