Supervisor Parlin and I recently attended the El Dorado County Wildfire Resilience Advisory Committee Meeting with our Working Group, Staff, and the Directors of Cal Fire's new Wildfire Mitigation Program. There is A LOT of movement at the state level around wildfire resiliency measures, as well as over $351 million in grants available to local jurisdictions.
Last year I brought forward a board item, along with Supervisor Hidahl, directing the CAO's office to establish this Working Group to coordinate vegetation management and resiliency measures in our county. It was so gratifying to hear that we are one of 3 counties which now has a Wildfire Resiliency Office, and the State is looking to El Dorado County as a model that can be duplicated throughout California. Lots more to come on this, and an immense amount of work ahead, but we are on the right track with an incredibly dedicated Working Group which is coordinating projects and grant opportunities with local agencies/entities and Fire Safe Councils. Stay tuned on this important work!
On Thursday, August 18th, the draft preferred concept of the Diamond Springs Community Park will be reviewed by the Parks and Recreation Commission. This plan has emerged from community meetings and stakeholder engagement, based on identified community need. Weigh in on this important and exciting project!

 It was a pleasure for Karen and I to welcome District 3 Commissioners to my home for a meet and greet last week. It was a great time for the team to get to know each other, and understand the issues that each Commissioner is working on. I walked away even more proud of this dedicated, passionate and experienced team who is working faithfully to serve our community on a host of critical issues.
