Deer Park Hall of Fame Announces Class of 2022 Inductees

CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The Deer Park Hall of Fame Committee has selected honorees for the Class of 2022. The Deer Park Hall of Fame inducted its first members in 1991, and features not only athletes, but also musicians, actors, philanthropists and scholars.

Inductees can be admitted under the category of Athlete, Staff Member/Administrator/ Coach, or Distinguished Alumnus/Alumnae. This year, the committee selected four new members of the Hall of Fame to represent the Class of 2022. They are:

  • Howard Basinger, Sr. (1949-1979) - Staff Member/Administrator
  • Donna Hammer Beiting (Class of 1992) - Distinguished Alumnae/Athlete
  • Casey Berling (Class of 2011) - Athlete
  • Ryan Brown (Class of 2000) - Athlete

Howard Basinger, Sr. 

Mr. Basinger was a beloved teacher and principal at both Amity and Howard Elementary. He served the students of this community for 30 years! He showed his dedication and commitment to public education through membership in numerous organizations: Greater Cincinnati Valley Area Elementary Principal Association, Ohio Education Association, National Education Association, Department of Elementary and Ohio School Supervisors, and served as President of the Cincinnati Chapter of the National Association of Gifted and Talented Children.

Donna Hammer Beiting

As valedictorian of the Class of 1992, Donna was actively involved in both sports and other extra-curriculars. She was an award-winning attorney on the Mock Trial Team which placed 3rd in the state competition. As a 4-year scholar athlete in both volleyball and basketball, she earned 2nd team all CHL in both sports her senior year. Donna made the most of her time at Deer Park, serving as a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Miami writing team, volunteering in the work study program, and as a Stage crew member for Parkers. She left Deer Park briefly to earn a teaching degree from Transylvania University before returning back to Deer Park, where she has shared her love of learning as an elementary teacher for the past 26 years.

Casey Berling

Casey is a distinguished athlete from the Class of 2011, where she excelled in volleyball, basketball and softball. She was the 1st Deer Park Athlete to receive the 12-letter award for earning 4 varsity letters in 3 varsity sports. As a scholar athlete, Casey earned Honorable Mention All-CHL in both basketball and volleyball her senior year. Her softball accolades were numerous-2x Offensive Player of the Year, 2x Southwest Ohio District All Star Player, 2x Second Team All CHL, First Team All CHL senior year, and 2x Second Team All-City. Aside from athletes, Casey was an active member of the Fellowship of Christian athletes, Glee Club, Parkers and Student Council. She was chosen as the William Schoeney Recipient her senior year, which recognizes the strongest female athlete, as well as the PTO volunteer Scholarship. Casey currently works as a nurse at Bethesda North and resides in Deer Park.

Ryan Brown

As a member of the Class of 2000, Ryan was a stellar athlete, participating in football, basketball, baseball, and track. During his senior year of track, Ryan won the 100 in both the CHL and regionals and was a state qualifier in both the 100 and 400. He was named Honorable Mention All-State. Ryan’s junior and senior years of football were truly remarkable. He scored 32 touchdowns, scored 204 points, rushed for 2,394 yards, and had 3,284 total yards from the line of scrimmage. Upon graduation, he held numerous school records: Single season rushing 1605 yds., Single season scoring 132 points, Single season total yards 2326 yards, and Career total yards of 4034. He was named to the East- West All-star football game along with being named 1st team All District. After graduation, Ryan played semi-professional football and was named Player of the Year in 2005.

Deer Park Schools, in association with the Deer Park High School Hall of Fame, would like to congratulate these Deer Park Alumni on their tremendous contributions to our Wildcat community! The new Hall of Fame members will be honored between the 1st and 2nd quarter of the Homecoming football game this evening.
