ATTN Licensees: Your participation in this survey is vital to informing this rulemaking!
2022 PQAC Pharmacy Survey – Accessible Labeling
The commission filed a rulemaking inquiry (CR-101) under WSR 22-09-065 on April 19, 2022 to consider new and amended rules in chapter 246-945 WAC related to prescription label accessibility standards. The inquiry addresses issues pertaining to both visual/print disability access and the translation of prescription drug information for individuals for whom English is not a primary language.
The commission created a survey to assess current pharmacy practices around providing accessible labeling options to patients, including whether such options are already made available, and what technological, financial, or resource-based obstacles prevent such options from being offered. Any and all people licensed with the commission are strongly encouraged to participate in the survey at the link provided above.
The data collected from this survey will be a valuable resource, along with other feedback from interested parties and affected populations, that will help the commission develop stronger and more accurate rules for pharmacies to provide translated and visually accessible prescription information to patients.
The survey will remain open through Sunday, October 16, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. Please address any inquiries or comments to Joshua Munroe, Rules and Legislative Consultant, at PharmacyRules@doh.wa.gov.
