Howdy Montgomery Energy Connection Partners/Regulators!

You know what I love even more than a good 90s Hip Hop reference? Energy Action Month!!

This year, the theme is ELECTRIFY EVERYTHING and we need your help to spread the word - and while we don't have an app for that, we do have a toolkit for you!!! Check out this amazing document to help guide you through the ELECTRIFY EVERYTHING journey!

We encourage you to share the suggested copy and images in the toolkit through your social media accounts, websites, and newsletters to help spread the word about Energy Action Month 2022!

Electrify Your Ride: October 3 - 9

Ride

This week, we’re highlighting the importance of electrifying you ride by making the switch from a combustion, gas-powered car to an electric vehicle (EV). EVs are the future of transportation, providing drivers with an emissions-free form of transportation and the ability to charge at home or a public-charging station, instead of worrying about fluctuating prices at the gas pump.

🔌 CONNECTING TO YOU: Visit the webpages on EVs and charging stations to learn more and determine if an EV is right for you. If you haven’t done so already, be sure to take Montgomery County’s EV Pledge to show your support for the Montgomery County EV Purchasing Cooperative and commit to making your next vehicle electric!

Electrify Your Home: October 10 - 16

Home

During the second week of Energy Action Month, the spotlight is on your home. A key way to help the County meet its climate goals is by electrifying home appliances/systems by replacing fossil fuel-powered systems with electric alternatives. Heat pumps are an ideal, energy-efficient alternative to furnaces, boilers, and air conditioners. Efficient electric water heaters are also an option worth exploring.

🔌 CONNECTING TO YOU: Please promote the Electrify Everything pledge today and the ASK AN EXPERT event on Saturday, October 15th at 11:00 am from the comfort of your home!

Electrify Your Kitchen: October 17 - 23

kitchen

One of the ways you can reduce your home’s carbon footprint and help the County meet its climate goals is to switch to induction cooking in your kitchen.

🔌 CONNECTING TO YOU: Please promote the food demonstration on October 19th at Crossroads Farmers' Market, more details in the ELECTRIFYING EVENTS section.

Electrify Your Lawn: October 24 - 31

lawn

As we close out Energy Action Month, the focus is on electrifying your lawn. Beyond the loud noises they generate, did you know that using a gas-powered leaf blower for an hour emits as much carbon monoxide as a car engine idling more than eight hours?

🔌 CONNECTING TO YOU: Promote the ASK AN EXPERT event on Monday, October 24th at 6:30 pm.
