BWSR Academy

BWSR Academy is just around the corner and will be held on October 25-27 at Cragun’s. Registration shows we will have a full house and BWSR staff are looking forward to seeing many of you there. Some of you will be receiving emails from trainers if there is any homework, session prep, requests to bring laptops to a session, and/or download a specific program. It is exciting to be able to get together in person this year. Safe travels!

2022 Individual Development Plan Results

Thank you to everyone who completed their 2022 Individual Development Plan (IDP). Between January 1 and September 23 of this year, 355 people identified nearly 2,300 technical training needs in their IDPs. We have compiled these training needs and you can find the preliminary results here.

What happens next?

During October and November, this information will be reviewed by your Area Technical Training Team (ATTT) to determine local training priorities. Those priorities will then be compiled at the state level and used to develop the training plan for 2023.

Didn’t complete your IDP or have new training needs? Communicate your technical training needs directly to your ATTT and add them to your IDP today. We regularly pull updated information from the IDP tool and use it for direct email notices when applicable trainings are being held.

Average annual soil erosion by wind for cropland in Minnesota and North and South Dakota

New Wind Erosion Training Available

The Wind Erosion Prediction System (WEPS) helps conservation planners estimate wind erosion on cropland and predict the reduction in erosion associated with the application of conservation practices such as cover crops and windbreaks. The TTCP recently completed development of a comprehensive WEPS training module, which is available on the MNC3 training website. It is currently in a pilot testing phase. This means the training is completely developed but is in its final draft status. We could use some extra eyes and ears to make sure there are no problems with the module. If you are interested in taking the WEPS training module, feel free to email any feedback about the training to kelly.voigt@state.mn.us.

WASCOB Training

A one-day Water and Sediment Control Basin (WASCOB) design training will be held in Fergus Falls the first week of December. Registration information will be available soon. If you are interested in this training, please keep an eye out for this opportunity. It will be posted on the Training Calendar when registration is open.

2022 Training Calendar

An updated version of the working training calendar can be found here. This 12-month view of training offerings provides additional information about upcoming trainings, including potential locations and other information, and it will be updated monthly. The dates, locations, and other details are always tentative until the event is posted on the Training Calendar.
