(FRANKFORT, KY) – The Kentucky Department of Education's (KDE's) Local School Board Members Advisory Council (LSBMAC) is to meet Nov. 9 at 3 p.m. ET.
The LSBMAC consists of 13 members. There is one member representing each of the seven judicial districts in the state. In addition, there are six at-large members. Beginning July 1, 2021, judicial district representatives shall serve a single two-year term, with subsequent terms beginning on July 1 of ODD numbered years. Beginning July 1, 2022, six at-large members shall be appointed to two-year terms expiring on June 30, 2024. Subsequent At-Large terms will begin on July 1 of EVEN numbered years. NO member can seek an additional consecutive term but may be re-appointed after sitting out one term.
Beginning with the 2022-2023 council year, at least two members of the LSBMAC will also represent the Kentucky School Board Association (KSBA) Board of Directors.
Council Meeting Cadence Beginning with the 2022-2023 school year, the cadence of meetings for the LSBMAC will shift to coincide with Kentucky School Board Association annual meetings. ALL LSBMAC meetings will be in-person and will occur preceding each KSBA state level meeting. The council will meet twice more during the 2022-2023 year and subsequently will meet three times a year on the following schedule:
KSBA Winter Symposium December 2022 and each December thereafter
KSBA Annual Conference February 2023 and each February thereafter
KSBA Summer Leadership Conference July 2023 and each July thereafter
The LSBMAC meeting will be in the State Board Room, but members of the public may watch the meeting on the Kentucky Department of Education’s Media Portal.
