In an effort to bring you the most up-to-date news, here is a short format newsletter highlighting the City of Kenmore’s top four news items of the week.

At the November 7 meeting, the Kenmore City Council will discuss the approval of Ordinance 22-0558, which includes amendments to the Comprehensive Plan Vision Statement, Land Use Element, Housing Element, Capital Facilities Elements, and Ordinance 22-0566, including amendments to the Official Kenmore Zoning Map. As directed by the Council on October 17, these changes do not rezone the R-6 zoning district to allow duplexes and triplexes at this time. Instead, they include other changes previously considered and allow for future consideration of Medium Density housing (Missing Middle Housing) within one-quarter mile of the city’s two main transit corridors.

On October 26, 2022, Puget Sound Clean Air Agency (PSCAA) issued an Order of Approval of a Notice of Construction permit (#11861) for the Cadman asphalt facility in Kenmore. There is a 30-day appeal period associated with this Order of Approval. The City Council will hold a special study session on Monday, November 14 at 6 p.m. to discuss the Order of Approval, with the opportunity for public comment. In advance of the November 14 study session, City Manager Rob Karlinsey will attend three public listening sessions on November 5, 7, and 8 to gather questions and comments from the community. It's time to vote! Tuesday, 11/8, is Election Day. Remember to drop your ballot off at a drop box by 8 p.m. that day. The drop box at Kenmore City Hall is located on the sidewalk on 68th Avenue and there are dedicated parking spots for quick and easy drop-off. The Kenmore City Hall Vote Center will be open Saturday, November 5, Monday, November 7, and Tuesday, Election Day, November 8. Voters can register for the first time, update their registration, get a replacement ballot, or use an accessible voting device.

Over the weekend of November 12, The Northshore Emergency Management Coalition will be hosting a FREE CERT Basic Training for any interested members of the community. CERT training covers basic skills that are important to know in a disaster when emergency services are not available. You will learn how to protect yourself and maximize your capability to help the greatest number of people after a disaster. This free course will be held at Fire Station 51 in Kenmore and will run all day Saturday and Sunday, with a follow up practical exercise on Saturday, November 19. Register for the course here.
