The Wyoming Department of Education (WDE) Standards & Assessment Division wishes you Happy Holidays! We hope you enjoy your school break, and we will resume the weekly Assessment Newsletter on January 6, 2023.

WY-TOPP WINTER INTERIM TESTING WINDOW

January 10-February 2, 2023

  • The WY-TOPP Interim Testing Window will be open from January 10-February 2, 2023 for the following content areas and grades:
    • ELA: Grades 3-10.
    • Mathematics: Grades 3-10.
    • Science: Grades 4, 8, and 10. Note: The grade 4 Science Interim will be available for the first time this winter.
    • Writing: Grades 3, 5, 7, and 9.
  • Ensure that accommodations and rosters are appropriately set in TIDE prior to testing.

EXEMPTION REQUESTS FOR STATEWIDE ASSESSMENTS

ACCESS for ELLs, WY-ALT, and WY-TOPP Exemptions

  • School administrators may apply for an exemption from participation in statewide assessments for students who meet the following criteria:
    • The student is expelled for the entire testing window.
    • The student is an English Learner who has been enrolled in a US school for less than one year. (This exemption is from the ELA portion only for WY-TOPP and WY-ALT. The ACCESS test must still be taken.)
    • The student is placed in an out-of-state facility for the entire testing window.
  • View the SAER site training video to learn how to submit exemption requests. 
  • Submit an exemption with this link to the SAER webpage.

Exemption Request Windows

  • The ACCESS for ELLs request window is open until January 31, 2023.
  • The WY-ALT request window is open until March 14, 2023.
  • The WY-TOPP request window is open until April 25, 2023.

ACCESS for ELLs Checklist

  • District Test Coordinators, Building Test Coordinators, and Test Administrators all have roles and responsibilities to prepare for the ACCESS for ELLs test administration. 
  • Reference the ACCESS for ELLs Checklist to prepare for test administration.
