❄ Happy First Day of Winter ❄

I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for your partnership over the last few years. Montgomery Energy Connection is about to celebrate 5 years and it wouldn't be possible without YOU!

Today is the first official day of Winter and it also marks the holiday season - for those who celebrate Hanukkah, Christmas, and Kwanzaa - I hope this holiday season is happy and bright!

🔦 National Flashlight Day

flashlights

National Flashlight Day, on the same day as Winter Solstice, reminds us to turn on some lights during the shortest day of the year.

Around 1899 the invention of the dry cell and miniature incandescent electric light bulbs made the first battery-powered flashlights possible. Today the flashlights that we use are mostly incandescent lamps or light-emitting diodes and run on disposable or rechargeable batteries. Some are powered by the user turning a crank or shaking the lamp, and some have solar panels to recharge a battery.

🔌 CONNECTING TO YOU: We have portable mini 3 LED solar powered hand crank flashlights with the Montgomery Energy Connection logo on them available for residents. Do you have an upcoming event, if so, you could provide residents with these flashlights and we will deliver them to you after the New Year.

Also, don't forget to promote #NationalFlashlightDay on social media, the observance toolkit is here.

Love Where You Live

comfort

Today marks the shortest day of the year and as days start to get longer, they will still be cold! Did you know that heating (and cooling) makes up about 45% of the average energy bill?! Now is the time to help residents make their homes more comfortable, this is why we created the Love Where You Live initiative that comes with Home Comfort Kits!

🔌 CONNECTING TO YOU: We have Home Comfort Kits available and we would love to make sure that residents are getting these quick energy saving measures. If you are working with residents and would like to provide them with these Home Comfort Kits, please email energy@montgomerycountymd.gov and we will deliver them to you after the New Year.

Guess What's Brewing...🍻💡

FeBREWary

FeBREWary is right around the corner and we are looking for partners for our outreach this year! Do you have a brewery that you want us to attend? Do you want to table with us? Let us know!!!

We have over 500 koozies ready to be distributed, the theme is HOME INSULATION and BEER!!!

🔌 CONNECTING TO YOU: Do you know of a home insulation company that may be interested in attending these events with us? Please let us know!
