Important Deadline re: Feedback on the Draft School Year Calendar Options for the Next 3 School Years

Dear Franconia District Families,

I want to provide you with a time-sensitive update and a request for public feedback prior to the scheduled School Board vote (Thursday, February 9th) on FCPS' School Year Calendars for the next three years.

As you may be aware, the School Board is currently reviewing four draft options, which include School Year Calendars for the next three school years (2023-24, 2024-25, and 2025-26).

Because this is different from our normal one-year calendar approval process, FCPS is seeking time-sensitive feedback on these four options, from families and staff. The deadline is Tuesday, January 31st, 1:00pm (prior to the School Board's work session that day).

Please see the message below for additional information on the four, color-coded options that are under consideration AND the e-link to the feedback form.

Again, the deadline to complete the feedback form is Tuesday, January 31st at 1:00pm. Please carefully review the options and provide your feedback.

As your Franconia District representative, I wanted to be sure you were informed about the 3-year School Calendar, as well as, the four options for each of these three years. It is important to me that you have an opportunity to voice your opinion on this matter.

While the information below highlights some of the key differences among the four, color-coded options for the next three school years (12 total versions), I want to spotlight the following:

-Start Dates & End Dates for the School Year

-Winter Break (number of days & start/end dates)

-Number of Teacher Workdays/Student Holidays (school closures)

-Religious Holiday Closures

-Number of School Days (180 or less)

-Number of 5-day School Weeks

Thank you for your time.

Best,
Tammy
