The National FFA Organization was established in Kansas City, Missouri on November 20, 1928. Today, there are 850,823 FFA members in 8,995 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. In Washington state, we have 196 FFA chapters across 9 districts, and last year our membership set new records with over 13,500 FFA members.
This year, help celebrate all the ways that FFA is unique by participating in National FFA Week scheduled for February 18–25, 2023. Your Washington state FFA officers have put together a fun schedule of events that FFA chapters can use to promote National FFA Week on all your social media outlets. Check out the schedule provided and encourage students to spread the news on all the activities planned for your chapter members that week.
A.J. Grooters, an agricultural teacher at White Swan High School, and her FFA members were recently featured in the Yakima Herald-Republic for re-opening their school barn doors and housing swine projects on campus once again.
For all the details on how this type of hands-on Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) teaches students swine handling procedures, provides new avenues for learning, and financial skills check out the full article entitled: "It’s Swine Time: Hands-on Ag Education Returns to White Swan High School Following Pandemic."
