Bus Operations Communications Analyst (PPM II)

Bus Ops Communications team has an exciting SDA opportunity for current Metro Transit Bus Operations employees who are interested in expanding their knowledge and/or interest in communications and design improvement. You will gain experience and training in Adobe Creative Suite, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and other technologies and programs in a collaborative work environment.

In this role, you will assist with internal communications and communication systems for Bus Operations. This includes, but are not limited to, bulletins, handbooks, policies and procedures, forms, websites, cloud platforms, digital communications, and multi-media. You will also gain experience in managing systems that include administration, design, and development.

As the Communications Analyst you will:
  • Publish bulletins on regular schedules. Develop, edit and design content to address identified issues.
  • Design, edit and publish transit operators' handbooks biannually. Edit and publish policies, procedures, and forms.
  • Develop and manage websites, SharePoint sites, digital signage system, and digital messaging systems.
  • Plan project time schedule and implementation; manage and evaluate projects and/or programs.
  • Act as a technical expert in solving referred issues from less experienced staff. Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to follow style guides and branding guidelines in written and graphic communications.

  • Ability to manage and evaluate projects and programs.
  • Ability to work with a team cooperatively, and mentor assistants.
  • Ability to act in a tactful and diplomatic manner, and work on sensitive issues with diverse groups.
Desired experience with (but not required):
  • Adobe Creative Suite
  • SharePoint and SharePoint site administration.
  • Geographic Information Systems (GIS) including analytical tools and basic cartographic skills. Experience with ESRI products such as ArcMap and ArcGIS Online.
  • GovDelivery.com digital messaging system Experience with Signagelive digital signage system.
  • Publication process, including print layout, design, proofing, and product delivery.
  • Familiarity with common website languages. Basic knowledge of HTML, XML, CSS, JavaScript, and common programming concepts.
  • Working in large agencies and successfully navigating through leadership and agency structures.
  • Knowledge of Metro Transit routes and operational practices.
  • Demonstrated commitment to life-long learning and development.
