POLICE ARREST OFFENDERS IN SEPARATE INCIDENTS
On Saturday, June 20, 2015 at approximately 12:25AM, Evanston police officers were dispatched to the area of the 600 block of Howard Street in reference to a call by a refused citizen who stated they observed four subjects attempting to break into a business at the location. The caller further stated that the subjects were armed and were last seen in a white Jeep SUV. Responding officers located a white Jeep SUV occupied by three individuals near the location and conducted an investigative stop on the vehicle. Upon searching the vehicle, a loaded Ruger 9mm handgun was recovered from inside along with a pink stun gun. The owner of the business in question was located and advised that the individuals did not attempt to break into the business. Police subsequently charged Hugo E. Pinzon, age 25 with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, and possession of a firearm without a valid firearm owners identification card. Marvetta L. Scott-Brooks, age 21 was charged with misdemeanor unlawful use of a weapon/stun gun. Arrest photos are attached to this media release for legitimate media publications only.

Unlawful Use of a Weapon/Stun Gun - Class A misdemeanor
On June 22, 2015 at approximately 2:51AM, an officer on routine patrol conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 1400 block of Grove Street. The driver of the vehicle initially gave the officer a name and date of birth that turned out to be false. After receiving the correct name and date of birth, a check of the suspects drivers license revealed that the status was revoked. The suspect was not able to give the officer any information on the owner of the vehicle and a search of his person revealed a large amount of loose change. The owner of the vehicle, an Evanston resident was contacted and upon checking, discovered that the vehicle had been stolen from the 1400 block of Asbury Avenue after being left unlocked with a spare key in the center console. Cook County States Attorney felony review was contacted and rejected felony charges against the suspect. The suspect, Richard A. Bevacqua, age 33 was charged with criminal trespass to vehicle, obstructing identification, as well as traffic charges.
