Updated COVID-19 Vaccine Now Available

Dear VA Maryland Health Care System E-News Subscriber:

The VA Maryland Health Care System and community retail pharmacies are now offering the updated COVID-19 vaccines for the 2023-2024 season. The updated vaccines target more recent COVID-19 strains. Due to changes in the virus, it is important to get the updated vaccine as soon as you are eligible.

The CDC recently issued the following updated 2023-2024 COVID-19 vaccine recommendations:

All adults should receive one updated 2023-2024 COVID-19 vaccine dose, if it’s been at least 2 months since receiving any older COVID-19 vaccine.
Anyone who has not yet received any COVID-19 vaccine should receive an updated COVID-19 vaccine.
People with moderately to severely immunocompromising conditions may receive additional updated 2023-2024 COVID-19 doses, if recommended by their provider.

Veterans enrolled with the VA Maryland Health Care System can schedule an appointment to receive the updated COVID-19 vaccine at a VA Maryland Health Care System facility or in the local community.

Schedule an Appointment at the VA Maryland Health Care System:

Call the VA Maryland Health Care System’s Appointment Center Monday-Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at 410-605-7333 to schedule an appointment to receive an updated COVID-19 vaccine at any location throughout the health care system.

Schedule an Appointment in Your Local Community:

To find locations where you can receive the updated COVID-19 vaccine near you, visit the CDC Vaccine Finder website at www.vaccinefinder.org or call 1-800-232-0233. For no cost COVID-19 vaccine, visit https://testinglocator.cdc.gov/Search. After receiving the vaccine in your local community, we encourage you to share this information during your next scheduled primary care appointment or you can upload it to your MyHealtheVet account.
