    Smoke-free approach

    Our mission

In 2016, Philip Morris International (PMI) announced our vision of a smoke-free future and our ambition to accelerate the end of smoking. To achieve this, we are working to replace cigarettes with less harmful tobacco and nicotine products for the benefit of adults who would otherwise continue to smoke.

This prerecorded event was broadcast on April 10, 2025 on our Open Science platform, LinkedIn®, and PMI’s YouTube channel. Expert panelists discussed how the integration of science and research is paramount to crafting informed and effective public policy strategies around tobacco and nicotine.

    PRODUCT TECHNOLOGIES

    Our smoke-free products

Smoke-free products is the term Philip Morris International (PMI) uses to refer to products that provide nicotine without burning tobacco. These products deliver nicotine and far lower quantities of harmful and potentially harmful constituents compared with cigarette smoke. Because no combustion takes place, smoke-free products have the potential to present less risk of harm to adult smokers who switch to them versus continuing to smoke.
