Storke/Hollister Improvements Update - August 27, 2015
Here’s
the weekly update on Storke Road/Hollister Avenue intersection:
Work
on the northwest and northeast sides of Storke and Hollister was completed this
week.Work will continue in the center
median on Storke north of Hollister. This
phase is expected to be completed the second week in September. In the
meantime, pedestrian access on the north side of Hollister from Cortona to
Storke is still closed.Pedestrians
should cross Hollister at Coromar.
The
Hollister Village developer is focused on completing the frontage work
on Hollister.Work
includes removing the K rail, completing the signal work at Marketplace Way/
Village Way and Hollister Avenue, and landscaping. Pavement work is the final step in satisfying
the conditions for occupancy.This work
includes grinding and new pavement in several areas on Hollister and a final
slurry in other areas. The work will be
focused between South Glen Annie and Santa Felicia.
The contractor will also perform deep patch
repairs on northbound Storke north of Hollister in preparation for a final
slurry when the improvements to the southbound 101 ramps are completed in the
next phase. The grinding, paving and deep patch repairs will be scheduled during evening hours and the slurry work will be done early in the day to allow it to cure properly during the heat of the day.The schedule for paving work will be provided once confirmed. This phase of the Storke and Hollister improvements are expected to be completed before the end of September, allowing the residential portion of Hollister Village to open for occupancy on October 1st.
The
next phase of work to be completed by the developer are improvements to
northbound Storke at the southbound Hwy 101 ramps, which requires coordination
with Caltrans. Those designs are in the
final planning stage.
There are six
improvement projects planned for the Storke/Hollister intersection. Some of
these improvements are paid for through developer fees and others through the
Goleta Transportation Improvement Program (GTIP) fees. You can read more about
these projects here. The projects are
being sequenced to minimize the public impact and decrease the duration of the
construction.
We
appreciate your patience as we work to complete these needed improvements.
