Answer given by High Representative/Vice-President Borrell on behalf of the European Commission
3.5.2021
In the interview given by the EU Special Representative to the web portal ‘European Western Balkans’ on 22 February 2021, the map showing in the background was a working map provided to him by the respective EU services. The map respects the well-known status neutral position of the EU. The claim that the map showed Kosovo[1] as part of Serbia is false.
The High Representative/Vice-President and the EU Special Representative are committed to the EU Facilitated Dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, and to reaching comprehensive normalisation of relations between Serbia and Kosovo, which is the only way for the two parties to overcome the painful legacy of the past and advance on their respective European paths. The EU Special Representative is working for an early continuation of the high-level meetings of the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue after the formation of the government in Kosovo.
