Further Guidance, Directives Upcoming for Safer-at-Home Phase

Dear Licensee:

Numerous questions have emerged in light of the announcement that the state will enter the Safer-at-Home phase in its recovery plan related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As you may know, Governor Jared Polis’ Executive Order on the Temporary Cessation of All Elective and Non-Essential Surgeries and Procedures (Executive Order D 2020 027) expires on Sunday, April 26th. While we recognize that there is a pent-up demand for non-emergency and elective procedures, this is not a green light to immediately resume business as usual on Monday, April 27th. Rather, an executive order is expected from Governor Polis no later than April 27th providing further directives.

DORA stresses, however, that unless there is further official notice, you should not expect to change any of your current protocols on April 27th. Elective procedures should not take place until the Governor has issued these directives and businesses can ensure they can be fully implemented.

Further, the Governor’s lifting of statewide restrictions does not relieve you of continuing to comply with local public health orders if you work in a community where the local public health authority has extended restrictions on work or travel.

Following the Governor’s directive, DORA will communicate via email a comprehensive summary of state-level information and guidance specific to your industry.

As we navigate into this next stage, deliberation and the latest information must remain at the forefront before resuming operations. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to collaboratively ensure the safest patient experience possible.
