WHAT: Over 100 new drive-in Wi-Fi hotspots are coming online throughout Washington state in the first phase of a statewide initiative to bring public broadband internet access to all residents.
Commerce is hosting a media availability to showcase an extraordinary effort by multiple public and private partners during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Program speakers will be logging on from a sampling of the free, public access Wi-Fi spots.

1:00 p.m. Opening remarks: Commerce Director Lisa Brown, logging in from a WSU Extension site in Newport, Pend Oreille County, followed by brief remarks from:
- State Broadband Director Russ Elliott, from McCleary Library, Grays Harbor County
- Secretary of State Kim Wyman joined by Doug Sells, an 8th grade industrial tech teacher, and Washington PUD Association Executive Director George Caan, from Skookum Hall, Mason County
- Superintendent Chris Reykdal, from Downtown Olympia Library, Thurston County
- WSU Extension Director Vicki McCracken, from Asotin County Library, Clarkston, Washington
- Central WA University Associate VP and Chief Information Officer Ginny Tomlinson with NoaNet Chief Security Officer Mike Henson, from Tomlinson Stadium, CWU, Ellensburg
