Laredo CBP Officers Seize $400K in Hard Narcotics in One Enforcement Action

LAREDO, Texas—U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Office of Field Operations (OFO) officers at the Juarez-Lincoln Bridge intercepted hard narcotics totaling over $400,000 in street value.

“The transportation possibilities of hard narcotics into the United States are seemingly limitless,” said Port Director Gregory Alvarez, Laredo Port of Entry. “Fortunately, our drug detection technologies help us stay in front of the new trends.”

The seizure occurred on Saturday, July 11th when a CBP officer assigned to the Juarez-Lincoln Bridge referred a 2020 Toyota Hiace bus making entry from Mexico for secondary inspection. CBP officers examined all passengers’ belongings, utilizing a non-intrusive imaging system examination, resulting in the discovery of 4.76 pounds of alleged heroin, 18.38 pounds of alleged methamphetamine and 10 pills of alleged Tramadol concealed within luggage.

The narcotics have a combined estimated street value of $476,227.

CBP seized the narcotics. The case was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) special agents for further investigation.
