Native shrubs are the good “bones” to a bird friendly yard. Plants that are adapted to our climate, moisture, soil conditions are ideal for our resident and migratory birds. If you are interested in bringing “feathered action” to your yard and benefiting our environment, you are welcome to join in on this presentation. Conservation educator Jeff Cantrell will cover a variety of species of woody cover sources and food for the backyard birds. In addition, a discussion of native flowers will be presented for those wanting to garden for hummingbirds. There will be a native plant pick up in September at the Shoal Creek Conservation Education Center, the timing of this program is perfect to plan a garden design and purchase plants from the vendors that will be available for the native plant pick up.
