Firefighter/EMT

In the early morning hours of Sept. 23, 2020, Firefighter/EMT Woods responded to a residential structure fire. During operations, Firefighter/EMT Woods was found unresponsive in a tanker (tender) after having filled it from a nearby fire hydrant and completing several other on-scene duties.

Crews at the scene immediately provided life-saving efforts and he was transported to a local community hospital. All attempts to revive Firefighter/EMT Woods, however, were not successful. His death was caused by a heart attack.

Charles “Dog” C. Woods was honored on the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial in Emmitsburg, Maryland and was included in the USFA’s annual report Firefighter Fatalities in the United States.
