New route 544 starts Monday, Route 540 permanently discontinued

Sound Transit changes service twice a year, in March and September. The March service change is this weekend with significant changes for ST Express routes 540, 541, 542 and new route 544 starting Monday.

  • Route 540: Permanently discontinued; replaced by improved service on King County Metro route 255 which will stop at new University of Washington Station Bay 4.
  • Route 541: Discontinue 33 trips due to low ridership; retain nine trips. [NOTE: All trips are temporarily suspended as part of COVID-19 related Reduced Service.]
  • Routes 541 and 542: In westbound direction, both will switch from serving Bay 2 to new Bay 4 at University of Washington Station (see map below).
  • Route 544: New weekday route operating between Overlake Park-and-Ride, Redmond Technology Station (formerly Overlake Transit Center), South Kirkland and South Lake Union of Washington Station. View the new schedule.

We encourage you to update your rider alert subscriptions if you want to receive alerts for the new route 544.
