"We're All In" - DOA Grants

Throughout the COVID-19 crisis, Wisconsinites have done what they do best. Banding together to encourage one another in uncertain times and making sure that their communities, friends, coworkers, and families are supported so that no one is left behind. And, that's why “We're All In" on supporting Governor Evers' local recovery efforts at the Department of Administration (DOA). Local leaders and organizations should not feel like they are alone in aiding their communities and neighbors during this unprecedented time.

Leveraging Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act funding, DOA has launched three initiatives.

COVID-19 Community and Economic Stabilization Grant Program

COVID-19 Cultural Organization Grant Program. Assist cultural organizations whose operations have been negatively affected by COVID-19. Grants totaling up to $15 million available.

COVID-19 Out-of School Support Grant Program. Assist Wisconsin organizations who provide care to school-aged kids during the pandemic. Grants totaling up to $10 million available.

COVID-19 Movie Theater Grant Program. Assist Wisconsin Movie Theater Owners and Operators who have been affected by COVID-19. Grants totaling up to $10 million available.

COVID-19 Lodging Property Grant Program. Assist Wisconsin hotel and lodging facility owners who have been affected by COVID-19. Grants totaling up to $20 million available.

COVID-19 Live Music and Entertainment Venue Grant Program. Assist Wisconsin live music and entertainment venues and operators who have been affected by COVID-19. Grants totaling up to $15 million available.

COVID-19 Pandemic Response Nonprofit Grant Program. Assist Wisconsin nonprofit organizations whose primary mission is the provision of services to individuals impacted by COVID-19 in the areas of health care, shelter, adult education or other services in direct response to the COVID-19 pandemic and whose operations have been negatively affected by COVID-19. Grants totaling up to $10 million available.

W.R.A.P - Wisconsin Rental Assistance Program

The economic impact of COVID-19 has been significant. Many Wisconsin residents are struggling to make ends meet and are forced to make tough financial decisions. On March 27, Governor Evers directed Secretary-designee Palm to prohibit landlords from serving notice terminating tenancy. This temporary ban on evictions will expire on May 26. While state and federal benefits will help soften the blow, they are not expected to cover all expenses a family must manage. This significant loss of income will impact their ability to keep up with rent and threaten housing insecurity.

The Division of Energy, Housing, and Community Resources will partner with the Wisconsin Community Action Program Association, a trusted community partner to provide direct assistance to residents of Wisconsin administering this funding. $25 million will be allocated to agencies across the state for residents to apply for that meet income and need eligibility.

This program is designed to serve with and alongside local leaders and organizations because, as everyone knows, collaboration will be the key to making our Badger State thrive again. We look forward to sharing more about these programs and the grassroots work already being done in the days to come.

Routes to Recovery: Local Government Aid Grants

Wisconsin's local governments are on the front-lines of supporting their communities through the COVID-19 health crisis and into economic recovery. The “Routes to Recovery: Local Government Aid Grants" are aimed at helping our local government partners address some of their most urgent and unique COVID-19 recovery needs. Administered by the Department of Administration (DOA), Routes to Recovery Grants will be allocated to every Wisconsin county, city, village, town, and federally recognized tribe.

The effort is funded by $200 million in federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act dollars.
