Show Us Your Nature

Arlington's got nature and we want you to help us document it. From now through Nov. 14, become a citizen scientist by using the iNaturalist app and recording nature in your yard, on your street, anywhere you go for the Nearby Nature Bioblitz! (Psst....you may win a prize doing this!) Note to self: Arlington is updating its master plans for Urban Forestry and Natural Resources. This bioblitz helps us assess our current status. Click here to learn more about the plan and how to get involved.

Award-Winning Arlington County Parks & Recreation

Arlington received three awards from the Virginia Recreation and Park Society at their annual conference earlier this month (other Virginia park agencies selected us as the best based on our population size)!

  • Best New Environmental Sustainability, for the Reforested Floodplain of Bon Air Park.
  • Best New Renovation/Addition, Parks, Playgrounds, Blueways, Greenways and Trails, for Powhatan Springs Skate Park.

Even better! Robin Leonard, Parks & Recreation's Deputy Division Chief

in our Athletic and Facility Services Division received the Distinguished Service Award. It's awarded to professionals who have displayed continuous outstanding service to the profession and community.
