Managed hunts for waterfowl occur on the Department’s 15 intensively managed wetlands. These wetlands offer some of the best public waterfowl hunting opportunities in the state. To prevent overcrowding, these areas have draw procedures in place to allocate limited hunting opportunities.

There are three ways to obtain a hunting spot on a managed waterfowl hunting area:

  1. Missouri residents may apply online for a reservation. A reservation guarantees successful applicants a place to hunt on a specific day at a specific area.
  2. Residents and nonresidents can hunt with a reservation holder. Hunting parties are limited to four people.
  3. Residents and nonresidents can arrive at a managed waterfowl hunting area and draw for a spot in the morning drawing or “poor-line."

Notice:  Due to the current drought conditions, the morning draw will not be held at Montrose Conservation Area for the 2023-24 waterfowl season until further notice. For questions, call the Settle’s Ford Conservation Area at 816-862-6488.
