Stay Safe this Easter
 This Easter bank holiday will be different from what many of us are used to, but it is vital that Broxtowe residents follow the Government guidelines.
There is plenty of activities you could try at home with the kids:
- Indoor/garden Easter egg hunt - the person who finds the most hidden eggs, wins.
- Run an egg and spoon race with the people you live with
- Watch an Easter related film - what about Peter Rabbit or Hop?
- Bake Easter themed cakes or biscuits or try making your own hot cross buns
- Easter themed picnic either at your local park or private outside garden
The evidence shows that it is safer for people to meet outdoors rather than indoors. Outdoors gatherings (including private gardens) of either 6 people (the Rule of 6) or 2 households are allowed to meet, making it easier for you to meet up with friends and families this Easter (socially distanced).
Step 1 On The Roadmap
 Monday 29th March marked Step 1 in the coronavirus roadmap.
This means:
- you can meet outdoors either in a group of 6 (from any number of households), or in a group of any size from up to 2 households (a household can include an existing support bubble, if eligible)
- you can take part in formally organised outdoor sports with any number of people (outdoor sports venues and facilities will be able to reopen)
- childcare and supervised activities are allowed outdoors for all children
- formally organised parent and child groups can take place outdoors for up to 15 attendees. Children under 5 will not be counted in this number
Hands, Face, Space, Fresh Air
 As the stay at home order was lifted on the 29 March we are all making the most of meeting up outside with two households or up to 6 people, but it's still really important to protect friends and family by continuing to:
- Hands - Washing your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, or using hand sanitiser, regularly throughout the day will reduce the risk of catching or passing on the virus
- Face - Coronavirus is carried in the air by tiny respiratory droplets that carry the virus. Face coverings reduce the dispersion of these droplets
- Space - Transmission of the virus is most likely to happen within 2 metres, try and remain mindful of surroundings. Continuing to make space has a powerful impact when it comes to containing the spread.
Shielding Has Now Lifted
Shielding advice for people in England who are clinically extremely vulnerable has now been lifted.
This means that those on the shielded patient list can now begin to follow the national restrictions alongside the rest of the population.
These people are still advised to take extra precautions to keep themselves safe from COVID-19.
Vaccination updates
Book an NHS Covid Jab Without Delay
 NHS Chief Executive Sir Simon Stevens has urged anyone currently eligible for a COVID vaccination who has not received one to book an appointment without delay.
During April the NHS is also beginning to focus on second doses, which are delivered 12 weeks after people got their first jab. But appointments are still available for those in the initial cohorts who have not yet been protected. Anyone aged 50 and over can arrange a jab.
Mr Stevens said: "We're well on track to meet our 15th April goal of offering the NHS COVID vaccination to everyone aged 50 and over, as well as other high risk groups. In just the past two weeks we've now jabbed nearly 85% of people aged 50-54, and over three million of the highest risk people have also now had their top up second dose."

Calling all carer's to receive their vaccine
 If you're a carer it is important you take up the opportunity to receive your COVID-19 vaccination.
If you are in receipt of carer's allowance or the main carer of an elderly or disabled person, whose welfare may be at risk if the carer falls ill then you are eligible.

Community Testing Site Opening Hours
 Due to the upcoming Bank Holiday our Community Testing sites Stapleford Library and Newdigate Street Car Park, Kimberley will be closed on Friday 2nd April (Good Friday)
Stapleford Library Testing site will reopen Saturday 3rd April.
Newdigate Street Car Park, Kimberley Testing site will reopen Tuesday 6th April

Bank Holiday Opening Hours
 Don't forget your bin collection days will change next week due to the Bank Holiday. Bins will be collected as normal on Good Friday, but all other collections will be the day after your usual collection day.
Our customer service centre will be closed Good Friday 2nd April and Easter Monday 5th April.
Litter Picking Potential
 One of our local residents Jane Phillips has been out and about litter picking, as well as Jane a lot of residents have been in touch to ask if they can help with litter picking.
If, like us, you want to see the end of litter by our roads, on paths and in gardens, and you want to volunteer time to help us clear this litter, contact us today.
If you contact us, you will get a litter picking pole, risk assessment and we will also send you graphics to help you promote your litter pick on social media. We also collect the bags of collected litter at the end of your pick, if you let us know the details of where and when you plan to finish.

Are you registered for the May elections?
There is just over a month to go until Broxtowe voters will be asked to elect members of Nottinghamshire County Council, the new Police and Crime Commissioner for Nottinghamshire, Stapleford South West Borough Ward and Brinsley Parish Council. Broxtowe Borough Council is urging residents to make sure they're registered to vote.
The election is taking place on Thursday 6th May and deadline to register to vote is Thursday 19th April.

Community Garden Week 2021
Community Garden Week 2021 will take place from 05 April - 11th April 2021. Community Garden Weeks allows us to celebrate the amazing community gardens across Broxtowe.
Community gardens come in all different sizes, styles and shapes, but they all have the ability to bring people together through the power of nature and to make people feel joyful.

New recycling centres opening times
From 1st April all recycling centres across Nottinghamshire will be open 8am - 8pm everyday. Centres are starting to get busier, especially at weekends and queues are expected to be more likely. So please be patient and avoid busy times if possible.

Support Available
Self-isolating
If you develop symptoms of Covid-19, stay at home and self-isolate immediately. If you have a positive test result but do not have symptoms, stay at home and self-isolate as soon as you receive the results. Your household needs to isolate too.

The impact of the pandemic on you and your loved ones and not being able to enjoy all of the activities you would normally be involved in can all have an impact on your health. It is important to remember to look after yourself. If you have symptoms or a health concern you are worried about, please contact your GP practice. GP practices are still open and here for you. When you call your practice, you may be offered a consultation online or over the phone. If they feel they need to see you in person, they will invite you in for a face to face appointment.
