This Week's NJ COVID-19 Updates

On Monday, April 5th, eligibility expanded to include:
- Individuals age 55-64
- Individuals 16+ with intellectual and developmental disabilities
- Communications, IT, and media workers
- Higher education educators and support staff
- Laundry service workers
- Librarians and library support staff
- Real estate, building, and home services workers
- Retail financial institution workers
- Sanitation workers
- Utilities workers
On Monday, April 19th, eligibility will expand to include all individuals age 16+. Be sure to check out the "How To Get Vaccinated" section below. Make a plan today for the steps you’ll need to take to get you and your loved ones signed up for a vaccine and add those steps to your calendar.

To get your vaccination, you can do any of the following:

Register in the NJ Vaccine Scheduling System to be contacted when you become eligible and to be notified when an appointment is available to you through the Vaccine Scheduling System.
- If you are currently eligible, schedule an appointment directly with vaccination sites, many of which do not make appointments through the Vaccine Scheduling System. View locations here or try the new Vaccine Appointment Finder (in beta).
- If you are 65 or older, you can call a special senior hotline at 856-249-7007 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. for vaccination scheduling support. Dedicated appointment slots are reserved for those aged 65 and older. Appointment availability and scheduling varies by location.

As of April 5th, fully vaccinated individuals and individuals who have clinically recovered from COVID-19 in the past three months are not required to self-quarantine after their trip or to get tested before or after domestic travel unless otherwise required by their destination. Unvaccinated travelers should still self-quarantine if arriving in New Jersey from beyond the immediate region (New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Delaware). Also, all air passengers arriving to the United States from a foreign country are still subject to the federal requirement to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test or proof of recovery from COVID-19.

The COVID-19 Emergency Rental Assistance Program Phase II application period remains open to help New Jerseyans pay their rent arrears or future rent to the extent funds are available (in this context, arrears means rental payments that have been missed after March 13th, 2020). The program devotes approximately $353 million to rental assistance for low- and moderate-income households that have had a substantial reduction in income or incurred significant costs as a result of the pandemic, including those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
In addition to the tenants themselves, landlords or advocates may apply on behalf of tenants, with the tenant’s permission. Households will be selected on a rolling basis from the overall pool of applicants through a randomized process based on lottery criteria. Those who are selected then submit some additional information and paperwork to ensure they are eligible for assistance.

As of this week:
- More than 5.1 million vaccine doses have been administered in New Jersey
- More than 3.2 million people have received at least one dose
- More than 2.0 million people are fully vaccinated

Each week, the NJ Department of Health issues a new edition of Vax Matters, a newsletter with information on vaccination in New Jersey. Last Friday’s newsletter shared information about a new community vaccination center in Newark and new mobile units that will support New Jersey’s vaccination efforts.
