A History of Earthquake Mitigation Activities

FEMA tracks the application of how its grant money is spent.  Find out today what states across the country are doing to mitigate their earthquake risk with the State Assistance Grant Program: A History of Mitigation Activities dashboard and Grant Data Table below. The projects detailed here support local earthquake safety, mitigation, and resilience activities. This grant program is part of FEMA's National Earthquake Hazard Reduction Program (FEMA NEHRP).

The State Assistance Grant Program makes funding available through annual, non-competitive grants for individual states and territories and as competitive grants to non-profit organizations and institutions of higher education. The grants support the establishment of earthquake hazards reduction programs and the implementation of earthquake safety, mitigation, and resilience activities at the regional, state or territorial and local level.

Grant Data by Fiscal Year

The data detailed here is from fiscal years 2016-2021. The indicated fiscal years represent when a project was carried out. Thus, the grant money (the federal portion) is from the fiscal year prior.
