BALTIMORE, Md. (WBFF) -- On Thursday afternoon, Commissioner Michael Harrison and Deputy Commissioner Brian Nadeau held a press conference at Police Headquarters at 2:00 p.m.

The police department released and discuss Body Worn Camera footage of the police involved shootings that occurred on Monday August 9, 2021 at the 6000 Block of Alta Avenue and on Thursday August 12, 2021 in the 400 Block of E. Baltimore Street.

Police responded to the 6000 block of Alta Avenue in Northeast Baltimore for an assault and behavioral health crisis around 9:00 p.m. on August 9, 2021.

Officials say a standoff with police and the suspect ensued. Around 3:00 a.m., the suspect came to the door of the residence and opened fire.

At least one officer returned fire, killing the suspect.

Police say the officer-involved shooting that occurred near Holiday and East Baltimore Streets happened around 1:45 a.m. on August 12, 2021.

An officer in the area observed a group of people having an altercation, and walked over to the group.

“There was a verbal altercation that was quickly escalating to a physical altercation,” said Commissioner Michael Harrison. “The officer was looking directly at it and did exactly what he was supposed to do, he began to pursue it, to deescalate it.”

Police said the group of people ran. The suspect also fled.

Commissioner Harrison said the officer chased the suspect and fired at the suspect.
