Cox Home Connectivity for Education FAQs

Recent federal provisions have created the Emergency Connectivity Fund (ECF) to provide internet connectivity to students and library patrons while they are not on a school or library campus. Cox is offering a special connectivity solution for schools and libraries under the Cox Home Connectivity for Education program. The solution offers Cox’s ConnectAssist Internet Service with speeds of up to 50Mbps download speeds and up to 3 Mbps upload speeds.  As part of the program, Cox will partner with the school or library to directly subsidize the Cox account of qualified participants they select. The ECF funding will cover the monthly ConnectAssist Internet Service and the one-time purchase of a wifi modem. In addition, Cox will provide our Unlimited Data plan at no additional cost through June 30, 2022.

The Emergency Connectivity Fund subsidy is available to library patrons, and any student or school staff who is directly involved in the delivery of education to students. Participating schools or libraries determine who they wish to subsidize, provided they don’t have a current internet connection. Your school or library has indicated they want to help cover the cost of your internet access.

The promotional rate for your Unlimited Data Plan will last through June 30, 2023.   The duration of your subsidy is solely up to your school or library.

The Cox Home Connectivity for Education program includes Easy Connect (self-install) at no charge. We have partnered with your school or library to cover the one time cost of a wifi modem, so these costs will be paid by the Emergency Connectivity Fund.  In the rare event that you reside at a property that does not qualify for an Easy Connect, the program will cover a standard Pro Connect (professional installation).

Your school or library has not provided Cox with your address as being eligible for this program. Please reach out to your school or library who provided you with the program details if you feel you should qualify.

Cox Home Connectivity for Education program covers the Cox ConnectAssist Internet Service, which provides up to a 50Mbps download speed and 3 Mbps upload speed. At 50Mbps, it provides enough speed for online learning and video conferencing with educators, or utilizing virtual books and videos through your public library. No other Cox tier is subsidized by the program, so upgrading service to another tier will remove your subsidy.

Other Cox services are not included in the Cox Home Connectivity for Education program, and not funded by the federal Emergency Connectivity Fund. Cox provides consolidated bills to our customers, meaning all the services you have with Cox are included on a single bill each month. Any other services that are not being paid by the program will need to be paid directly by you on the due date indicated on your bill. Any payments made from the Emergency Connectivity Fund will reflect as a partial payment on the account. You can always keep up to date on the balance by downloading the Cox App or visiting cox.com/mybill.

All customers using the Cox Home Connectivity for Education program will receive a subsidy for their Internet service by the school or library. Should you add other Cox products or services, or purchase additional equipment, or require a service visit to your home, you will be responsible for any additional costs billed to your Cox account.  All financial obligations are between Cox and the families whose name appears on the Cox account (account holder). The account holder is responsible for the full balance due on the account, by the due date listed on the bill each month, and subject to any additional fees that may apply, including late fees. Any payment made by the ECF will be posted as a payment to the Internet service, but ultimately it is the account holder who is responsible for the balance due.  Please note, participation in the Cox Home Connectivity for Education program is subject to change, and end at any time based on your school or library’s sole discretion.

No, all services are provided to the families directly by Cox Residential services. The services are governed under the Cox Residential Customer Service Agreement, all residential terms of service and associated policies, including privacy and acceptable use. These terms and conditions can be found online at cox.com/policy.

Yes. It is the responsibility of the account holder to contact Cox should they wish to discontinue their service, including once your school or library is no longer making payments under the Cox Home Connectivity for Education program.

The Cox Home Connectivity for Education is a limited-time subsidy using federal Emergency Connectivity funding which may help cover the costs for any student, educators or library patrons who do not currently have an in-home Internet connection.

Connect2Compete is Cox’s permanent affordable, in-home internet product for families with children in Head Start and grades K-12 who participate in existing government support programs.

Customers can be eligible for either program, but not both. Anyone subscribing to Connect2Compete is NOT eligible for the Cox Home Connectivity for Education.
