The Florida Department of Environmental Protection's (DEP's) Drinking Water and Aquifer Protection Program, announces an open house public meeting to which all persons are invited. During this public meeting, representatives of both DEP and the applicant (Manatee County) will be available to answer questions and provide information about the draft Underground Injection Control Class I Injection Well System Construction and Testing Permit for the Manatee County Utilities' Piney Point injection well (UIC Permit No. 0322708-002-UC/1I, WACS Facility ID: 101607), located at 3105 Buckeye Road, Palmetto, in Manatee County, Florida. This draft permit would authorize the construction and operational testing of one non-hazardous Class I injection well (IW-1) and one dual-zone monitor well (DZMW-1) for the disposal of industrial wastewater from the Manatee County Piney Point Facility following an extensive review of plans by DEP, including engineering and geology professionals.

DATE AND TIME: Oct. 6, 2021, 4–7 p.m. (EDT).

PLACE: Manatee County Central Library, Auditorium, 1301 Barcarrota Blvd., West Bradenton, Florida.

PURPOSE: To receive public comments on the above referenced draft UIC permit for the Manatee County Utilities' Piney Point site. Rule 62-528.325, F.A.C., provides an opportunity for DEP to hold a public meeting whenever a significant degree of public interest is expressed in a UIC permit. DEP gave notice of its preparation of a draft wastewater permit to Manatee County on Sept. 1, 2021, and a Notice of Draft Permit was published in The Bradenton Herald on Sept. 3, 2021.

Persons wishing to provide written public comments should provide a copy of the comments to Annette G. Roberts at the mailing and email addresses listed above, or to DEP during the public meeting. Those wishing to enter oral comment into the record at the public meeting will be able to do so on an individual basis at an oral comment station. All oral or written public comments should be provided to DEP prior to the conclusion of the meeting on the subject permit application. All comments received within the 30-day period and through the conclusion of the public meeting will be considered in formulation of DEP's final decision regarding permit issuance. All significant comments shall be considered in making the final decision and shall be answered as provided in Rule 62-528.330, F.A.C.
