If you have both an oil or gas furnace and a wood stove, make sure they have separate chimneys or vents. If the chimney becomes clogged with creosote from wood stove use, the furnace exhaust can back up into the house, causing dangerous carbon monoxide levels. As you're working on separating the two -- get a carbon monoxide monitor for every level of your home.
