U.S. 127 Russell Springs Improvement Study Update

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) is conducting a planning study to evaluate potential improvements to increase safety, mobility, and connectivity along the U.S. 127 corridor in Russell Springs between the Jamestown Bypass and KY 379.

An inital round of public outreach was completed in February with more than 150 survey responses. The study team used that public input along with engineering and traffic data (current and project to 2045) to develop possible short- and long-term improvements.

Public input continues to be a critical component of the planning and project development process. The online story map below summarizes the preliminary improvement concepts. These concepts were used for the second round of public outreach which concluded in September. The study team is now working to develope final recommendations and the priority order of future improvements. Once recommendations are finalized, a report summarizing findings from the study will be made available to the public. Further funding will be necessary to advance any improvement concept identified as part of this study.
