Recycle for Greater Manchester Community Fund

Grants are available for voluntary and community sector groups across Greater Manchester to support projects that prevent, reuse, or recycle household waste, and generate wider social benefits for the community of Greater Manchester.

A total of £220,000 is available across the following award streams:

- Community Grants of between £2,000 and £10,000 for projects based in one district area only

-Innovation and Regional Grants of up to £20,000 for innovative City Region-wide projects working across all nine Districts of the GMCA area

The deadline for applications is Friday 31 May, (noon)

Grants for small, community-based and locally controlled groups who need a bit of financial help to be able to work with their community in the way they would like to. Grants of up to £1,000 are available.

The Community Fund is available to help improve and sustain the neighbourhoods where Stockport Homes manage properties. It will support projects that genuinely make a difference to the lives of Stockport Homes customers and the wider community. Through the Community Fund you can bid for any amount up to a maximum of £2,000.

Stockport Climate Action Now Catalyst Fund

Grants between £1,000 and £5,000 are available for ambitious projects that raise awareness about climate change and enable people to take climate actions.

There'll be 2 rounds of the CAN Catalyst Fund across 2024 and 2025:

-Round 1: applications open from 25 March to 30 June 2024

-Round 2: applications open from 1 December 2024 to 28 February 2025

Funding decisions will be made by the cabinet member for Climate Change and Environment.

Stockport Climate Action Now Seed Fund

Aims to support residents, communities and schools to take action.

Grants up to £1,000 are available for small projects that enable residents of Stockport to work together to reduce greenhouse gas emissions locally.

Funding decisions will be made by your local councillors at area committee meetings.

This funding is open for applications until February 2025.

Community Ownership Fund

Round 4 Now Open

The government is providing funding over four years to support community groups to take ownership of assets and amenities at risk of being lost, such as community centres, parks, pubs and post office buildings.

Round 4 is the final round of the Community Ownership Fund. There will be two bidding windows in Round 4 to allocate the remaining funding:

Round 4 Window 1 is open until 10 April

Round 4 Window 2 will open in late May

Free the Fund Community Grants - Rowntree

Offering grants of up to £10,000 for projects that improve adult wellbeing through exciting community initiatives, including dance, music, gardening and sports and fitness projects. The minimum age of beneficiaries should be 21 years old, and projects must be completed by the end of September 2024.

Armed Forces Day Event Grants

Grants are available to help organisations and individuals in the UK to host an Armed Forces Day event which can take place within two weeks of the Armed Forces Day event.

A maximum grant of £10,000 is available per application, provided that MOD funding accounts for no more than 50% of the total cost.This grant is match funded and can cover up to half the total cost of the event. For example, if the total cost of the event is £10,000 and £5,000 has been raised, the grant could cover up to £5,000.

Cost of Living Crisis - GM Grants Programme

Open to social enterprises and trading charities in Greater Manchester that are:

- providing enterprise-based services to people and communities that are in acute need owing to cost-of-living pressures

- providing impactful services to people and communities that are in acute need due to cost-of-living pressures

- experiencing financial difficulty as a result of rising running costs in their own financial model

Funded by Access – The Foundation for Social Investment, eligible organisations are invited to apply for between £1,000 and £10,000 to sustain the provision of essential community services and boost organisational sustainability. As part of their award, recipients will receive a grant and enterprising activity support delivered by GMCVO to help increase their trading activity and resilience.

Stockport Violence Reduction Unit Fund - Adswood & Bridgehall

The aim of the Community-Led programme is to form an alliance of VCFSE organisations delivering funded provisions around priorities set by a period of community engagement. There are five priorities for the area and organisations can apply for funding to deliver provisions on one of more of these.  

The application process has two stages: Stage One (Expression of Interest), Stage Two (Delivery Plan and Budget).

Organisations will need to apply by completing Stage One and sending it to funding@boltoncvs.org.uk by Friday 19 April

GM Cancer & Inequalities Fund

Grants of up to £5,000 for Greater Manchester based VCFSE organisations undertaking projects to deliver innovative projects that will raise awareness of the early signs and symptoms of cancer and identify and understand the barriers people face when receiving a cancer diagnosis.

You don’t need to be cancer experts and 10GM will give you the support you need to help your community.

The Fore - Unrestricted Grants

They make unrestricted grants which have the potential to have a transformational impact on an organisation. Transformational impact includes helping organisations become more sustainable, more efficient, to grow significantly or enabling an organisation to take a major step forward of some kind.

Any registered charity, CIC, CIO or Community Benefit Society with turnover of under £500,000 in the last financial year is eligible to apply.

VCSE Energy Efficiency Scheme

The Department for Culture, Media and Sport have launched a £25.5 million funding package to help voluntary, community, and social enterprise organisations in England improve their energy efficiency.

Eligible organisations will be able to apply for 1) an independent energy assessment and 2) capital grants to install energy efficiency measures.

To apply for the second element, organisations not owning their premises will need to ask for their landlords’ permission.

Tesco and easyfundraising have come together to support voluntary organisations, charities, and CICs. They will donate £1000 funding pots to 5 community organisations this October. Follow these simple steps for a chance to win.

Firstly, register your organisation with fundraising platform easyfundraising. easyfundraising enables your community organisation to receive unrestricted funding from 8,000 leading online retailers including Tesco.

Then shop online at Tesco. Ask anyone who is connected to your organisation to use the easyfundraising platform to shop with Tesco. Each time one of them shops online at Tesco, your organisation will be entered into the draw to receive a £1,000 funding boost. The more people who shop online with Tesco on your behalf, the more chances your organisation has of winning.

Plus each time someone shops with Tesco, your organisation will receive £1.75. That’s £1.75 for free.

  • The programme supports development by allowing artists, cultural practitioners and organisations to work in new ways and to get their work out to new audiences.

  • The Core Costs Funding Stream is for charities and not-for-profit organisations. Applicants to this programme can apply for grants for up to three years. They aim to give quicker decisions for grants of £15,000 or less per year.

  • Funding for specific projects and activities children and young people aged 18 or under. Priority to smaller, local organisations and rarely fund organisations with income above £1 million. For UK wide Hospices and Housing Associations there is no maximum income limit. They will only consider applications for over £15,000 pa, if you are a registered non profit.

  • Minor Grants are aimed at supporting small local charitable organisations which deliver services directly to beneficiaries. They fund core costs, average grant size is £500 - £4,999

  • Grants are available to organisations doing legally charitable work in the UK that focuses on Communities or people most affected being involved in campaigning or leading change / Work which makes connections across our aims: Our Natural World, A Fairer Future and Creative, Confident Communities. You must have an annual turnover of less than £100,000. Funds of £30,000 upwards
